More troubles on the waterfront in Sydney with Patricks Stevedores versus the MUA (Maritime Union of Australia).
The CEO claimed that the union was blockading important medical supplies, to which the union President’s explicit soundbite on the national ABC News was: “absolutely no medical supplies have been blockaded. We have an exception for medical supplies from the industrial dispute.”
Ah CEOs, they never stoop to throwing muck, if not outright lying
I hope the workers get what they want.
In other news, Qantas, our former nationalised plane company (now privatised), is moving to outsource thousands of jobs to private contractors, which will, if it goes ahead, see those jobs lose a massive amount of their pay and conditions.
Luckily, the news is reporting on this, and it has some fairly good visibility. Most union disputes in Australia are not covered in the capitalist press.
