I need to do something about the fact that I find it much easier to blog on the fedi on my phone on the couch, where the posts will get buried, than using my actual statically rendered blog. I’d really rather have some sort of dynamic interface where I can post stuff to gemini or my blog from my phone.
Gotta figure this one out… It’s something I’ve been aware of for a while.
The thing that really makes blogs and gemini space better than social media (such as the fedi) is that my writing is far more permanent and long-lasting. I get emails from people reading very old writing of mine from my blog, whereas fedi posts probably only capture people’s attention for about an hour or so in most cases, and after that whatever I had to say is effectively permanently lost.
The main issue I have with my blog is that I have to do so much checking and formatting in order to put anything up there. I have to make the markdown file, correct the date and time if necessary, make sure my markdown is sane and linted properly, and then make sure I have named the file properly etc. etc.—it is a whole process, and one I frequently have to repeat because I make mistakes.
I will think on this: I need a WYSIWYG blog, basically. Same for Gemini, if possible, although Gemini is a lot easier: most of the time I am just making my capsule by hand
