i think the winds have changed a little.
no longer is the australian reserve bank considering it its mandate to control the rate of inflation,
apparently–so says ABC news–the reserve bank of australia is now focusing on increasing employment
and you know what full, or at least a relatively low unemployment rate means– conditions that are good for anti-capitalist organising.
in particular, i feel anarchist unionism may be entering something of a golden age. the official state unions in australia are widely regarded as corrupt and tightly welded to the capitalist class. some are even so right wing as to support various different apartheid regimes across the world.
this may indeed be the century for anarchism. we have a fresh slate–all of us anti-capitalists, really.
i mean, i sat in on a conversation between a close family member and their good friend, the other day, and they were enthusiastically supporting what they called ‘democratic socialism’.
