Doing something that is popular, for that reason (popularity) is a logical fallacy, an error in reasoning. The jargon for this error is usually known as the ‘jumping on the bandwagon’ fallacy. Just be mindful. This isn’t a subpost—I would have CWed it as such if it was—i have just been thinking a lot lately about the enthusiastic advocacy I see online for programming languages. Also people tend to dunk on arcane or difficult interests because they’re not popular.
