It’s funny: I wonder if anyone in all my old activist organisations are reflecting on my words about Facebook. I made interventions at conferences, small meetings, and one-on-one about how Facebook was a surveillance platform, and a pure capitalist profit-making enterprise.
But I was ignored and spoken down to.
Now, with the massive blackout here in Australia, I wonder if anyone will remember what I said and pay attention:
Jumping on the bandwagon and saying that Facebook is merely convenient for reaching people about anti-capitalism, just because it is popular and almost everyone has an account, is a logical fallacy. It is NOT safe, it is NOT a good place to be radicalising and communicating with people.
